Driving data‑driven, human‑centered products for sustainable impacts

Recently, I had the privilege of witnessing how technology can be a powerful enabler of inclusivity, and how the private sector can play a catalytic role in accelerating digital transformation within public institutions.

Amanin, a technology company specializing in computer vision, recently achieved a significant milestone through its successful digital transformation projects with two prominent Indonesian public universities, located in Depok and Bogor. I’ve had the opportunity to be closely involved in these initiatives as a part-time advisor to the company.

These projects reminded me of the value of taking calculated risks, especially at a time when many organizations are becoming increasingly cautious about investing in third-party technology solutions.

Both universities shared a common goal: to make their entrance exams more accessible to prospective students across Indonesia, including those in remote and underdeveloped areas. Amanin’s AI-powered proctoring system helped make this possible by allowing candidates to take high-stakes exams from their own locations, eliminating the need for costly travel to campus.

The results have been profound. This proctoring solution has not only expanded access to quality education but also addressed several other key challenges:\

  • Mitigating exam fraud by verifying identities and preventing impostors
  • Enabling scalability by increasing the candidate-to-supervisor ratio
  • Maintaining exam integrity through secure and standardized procedures
  • Reducing administrative burden related to staffing and logistics

A critical part of the implementation involved conducting multiple mock exam sessions, which provided hands-on experience for both candidates and supervisors. These sessions were invaluable for:
  • Uncovering user pain points and technical limitations
  • Identifying common misunderstandings and infrastructure gaps
  • Educating stakeholders about the new system
  • Collecting actionable insights through feedback forms, forums, and social media monitoring

Interestingly, the platform also became a trending topic within exam-related proxy groups, helping both the company and clients better understand emerging proxy methods and adapt accordingly.

With this collaboration, Amanin and its partner universities have shown that digital solutions can uphold educational integrity while extending opportunities to students regardless of their geographic or economic background.

I’m hopeful that these newly satisfied clients will continue to champion the cause of making high-quality education more accessible, while fostering a culture of honesty and integrity among Indonesia’s future generations.

If you’re interested in learning how Amanin can support your digital transformation efforts, especially in the fields of computer vision and secure remote assessment, feel free to reach out via their LinkedIn page.
