This setup makes it easier to keep business logic organized while supporting a shared backend for multiple clients. Prisma 6 is used for database access, giving the product a clean data layer over PostgreSQL 16.
- Database. UMKM Hub uses PostgreSQL 16 as its primary database, which fits the platform’s need for reliable relational data across customers, orders, stock, revenue targets, and analytics. The model is well-suited for multi-tenant business data, structured reporting, and consistent transactional workflows. Local development is supported through Docker Compose, which makes the database environment easier to run and reproduce.

Why I Built the App
The idea to build UMKM Hub came from a very practical problem: MSME operations were scattered across spreadsheets, chat messages, manual notes, and disconnected tools, so even simple decisions about stock, orders, and customer follow-up took too much effort. As the workflow grew across products, warehouse stock, B2B customer records, invoices, and revenue tracking, the same pattern kept repeating: people had to switch contexts constantly, reconcile inconsistent data by hand, and rely on memory to answer basic operational questions.
That fragmentation made it hard to run the business with confidence. A restock update could affect stock visibility, an order could affect invoice generation and payment tracking, and customer data could influence follow-up or reporting, but those connections were hard to maintain when everything lived in separate places. UMKM Hub was created to bring those pieces into one system so that operational work, financial tracking, and analytics could live in a single, connected workspace.
My drive to build a clearer system pushed me to design UMKM Hub as a unified platform for MSMEs rather than another isolated tool. Instead of forcing users to juggle separate apps for CRM, stock, orders, invoicing, exports, and analytics, the product brings those flows together in a structured way, with a shared backend for web and mobile and consistent data across modules. The result is a more reliable operating model where users can manage their business from one place, see the impact of each action more clearly, and make decisions based on actual business data instead of fragmented spreadsheets.
What I Learnt from the App Development
The biggest takeaway from building UMKM Hub hit me when I started using it as if I were one of the people relying on it every day to run a business. Long nights of coding meant testing the messy reality of MSME operations: scattered product data, stock updates, customer records, order details, and invoice needs all competing for attention across different tools. When a warehouse update affected stock visibility, an order changed the amount due, or a customer record needed to stay consistent for CRM and invoicing, the whole workflow exposed how easily operational context can break down if the product is not designed carefully.
That raw self-use taught me that true simplicity requires discipline in what a product does and does not try to do. Early on, it is tempting to keep adding more surfaces, more shortcuts, and more cleverness, but UMKM Hub works best when it stays focused on the core workflows that matter most: product management, warehouse control, customer CRM, order handling, revenue tracking, and analytics. Keeping those flows connected in one workspace, with a shared backend across web and mobile, made the product feel more useful than any extra layer of complexity ever could.
In the end, building UMKM Hub reinforced that meaningful products come from understanding real workflow pain, not from stacking features for their own sake.
